Scholarship Opportunities
Alternative Spartan Breaks is so excited to announce that we will now be offering scholarships to ASB members to help offset the costs of a trip. If a flight is needed, full scholarships do not cover the cost of a flight.
All applications and nominations are due Friday, March 22nd 2024.
Full Scholarships
Spring Promoter
Create something web-based (a blog, a video, a condensed vlog, etc.) of your ASB trip and your journey through your social issue. We want to know (and see!) how ASB has impacted you. Your final product should be something we can share across social media platforms. Max 10 minutes if a video/vlog and max 5000 words total if blog post(s). This is an opportunity for you to show us your trip, so get creative! This is something to be completed after your trip returns to East Lansing and will be awarded in the form of reimbursement. Spring Mover and Shaker
Tell us what being an active citizen means to you, what you’re doing to be an active citizen, and what you plan to do to continue growing as an active citizen through ASB! Limited to 1000 words. This scholarship will be awarded based on a combination of your submission and financial need as proven through the financial aid office. Apply here!
Reimbursement up to $400
weekend mover and shaker
Tell us what being an active citizen means to you, what you’re doing to be an active citizen, and what you plan to do to continue growing as an active citizen through ASB! This scholarship will be awarded before you depart on your trip. Limited to 500 words. This scholarship will be awarded based on a combination of your submission and financial need as proven through the financial aid office. Apply here!

Partial Scholarships
Best Go-Pro Video Award
Were you able to capture the essence of what your ASB trip was all about? Did you document the impact that your trip made? Get your whole trip to collaborate on a video that encompasses what you learned! Get creative and get the go-pro rolling! The winning trip will receive $20 per person. Apply here!
Site Leader of the Year Award
Did your site leaders go above and beyond the call of duty? How did your site leader demonstrate active citizenship? ASB wants to recognize their hard work, so tell us why your site leader deserves this award! Nominate both or one site leader for the Site Leader of the Year Award! Winners will receive $100 each for being the best site leader. Max 500 words. Nominate your site leader Apply here!
Spring Most transformed breaker
Has your trip made an impact on your life? Did your trip change your perspective on a social issue? ASB wants to hear your story! Tell us how ASB has impacted you after going on your trip and what you plan to do with what you learned! This is something to be completed after your trip returns to East Lansing and will be awarded in the form of reimbursement. The limit is 1000 words. The winner of this scholarship will receive $125. Apply here!
